Up to 3 recipients totaling $3,000 ($1,000 each)

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Applicant must be a descendant from Vietnam.

  • Applicant must be a rising college freshman/sophomore who is enrolled for Fall 2026.

  • Applicant must have resided in either NC or SC for the past year

Application Components

  1. Applicant Profile

  2. Statement of Financial Need Essay

    • Financial need is often met with creative solutions. Describe the steps you have already taken to fund your education, such as employment, budgeting, or seeking other aid. How will this scholarship complement those efforts?

  3. Personal Essay

    • Describe a specific time you volunteered or gave back to the Vietnamese community. What did that experience show you about the community's needs, and how did it shape the way you think about your own education?

    • College is a big transition, especially when you're navigating it alongside your Vietnamese heritage. Share a moment where those two things intersected, whether it was a challenge you faced or something you're proud of.

    • Think about someone in your family who gave up a career, a home, or a dream so you could have more opportunities. How has their story influenced the way you live and the choices you make today?

  4. Community Engagement

    • Please describe your active involvement with the local Vietnamese community. If you are not currently active, how do you hope to engage with or serve the community in the future?

    • Please list any other notable examples of community involvement, extracurricular activities, or hobbies that demonstrate your broader interests and leadership.

    • Please list any notable academic achievements, honors, or milestones you've achieved in the past 2 years.

  5. Unofficial high school/college transcript(s)

  6. Letter of Acceptance for Fall 2026 (rising first-year) or Proof of Registration for Fall 2026 (rising sophomore)

General Information

  • Recipients are chosen based on a culmination of merit, financial need, and community involvement.

  • Immediate family members of Vietnamese Association of Charlotte executive and oversight boards are not eligible to apply.
